Artist of the day: Art Frahm

Art Frahm is much like Norman Rockwell is that his imagry envokes the cheery "life's swell" attitude of the 1950's. Intead of focusing on rosey cheeked cherub babies or cowlick boys getting haircuts by bespecled barbers, his art is pseudo cheese cake pin up stuff. Instead of showing women showing their gams on bombs, a lot of his art have women's panties mysteriously dropping from dresses. Is it weird? Oh yes. There's hoards of leering men and celery abound, but you can't help be drawn to the clean art.

I have a large Taschen hardcover of classic pin-ups and pin-up artists. You have no idea how many paintings had women's underwear falling down. It was the fetish of the era because if the book is just a sampling of this sort of thing then there would have been hundreds of paintings with that theme.
